                              A dogs tale

What if our Yorkies were just like us?

They’d know it was bath time without a big fuss

They would brush their own hair

And trim here and there

They might even go to dog shows by bus

Our Yorkies would have to learn much more care

The cleaning and caring of long silky hair

Find the right brand shampoo

(careful to rinse out the blue)

And choose the trade secrets to share

Tie their own topknots during the show

Making good friends with those in the know

Do all their own shopping

Get back without dropping

Would I ever be required to go?

Of course I won’t let them go on their own

What would I do at home all alone?

I’d miss all the nudges

Disagreeing with judges

And I would have nobody hearing me moan

The Yorkshire Terrier

Though I’m small and rather pretty

And my coat is fine and fair

If you think I am a lap-dog

Then you really should beware.

I am loving and I’m honest

With a rather charming face

And my owners do not need alarms

When I’m around the place.

For I sleep with one eye open

And if there is a sound

I can be there in a second

If strangers are around.

My bark is sharp and piercing

And if they ignore the tones

I can have them all for breakfast

And then spit out the bones !

What Is It?

What is that thing?

Standing down there,

Really small,

With lots of hair.

It just moved,

Oh I see,

It’s one of those things,

That can get fleas.

What are they called?

It rhymes with frog,

It’s not a bog,

So it must be a dog.

But wait a minute,

What’s the breed?

A Yorkshire Terrier,

I think it just peed.

It’s so cute,

In a matter of opinion,

If it were me,

It would be my minion.

It licked my hand,

Such a cute thing,

I’m still scared,

Does it sting?

I want to keep it,

But I can’t,

I think instead,

I’ll have a plant.
